Translated (in parts): "With much pleasure I take note of the feelings for me you express in your letter. In your turn, you can be assured of the high regard I have for you and your mother ... for those reasons I took a personal interest in how your brother was placed (in the army) ... Similarly, I take a keen interest in your marriage, the news of which gave me great pleasure ... "
