Otto of Greece
Autograph letter signed, one page, 6,75 x 8,5 inch, Ludwigshöhe (Germany), 29.08.1866, in Italian, untranslated, to Cardinal Luigi Bilio (1826-1884) - Otto of Greece thanks his correspondent for a tribute he has received, written and signed in black ink "Ottone", with intersecting letter fold, mild foxing, and glued to the blank conjoined sheet - in fine condition. The second son of King Ludwig I of Bavaria was crowned King after the Greek War of Independence and the assassination of Ioannis Kapodistrias, Greece's first president, in 1832 at the age of 16 years. His reign ended 30 years later with a bloodless uprising.
