Letter signed, 1 1/2 pages (both sides), 8 x 9,75 inch, St. Petersburg, 1.05.1841, in French, to Ferdinand I of Austria - acknowledging his letter concerning the marriage of his own son, Alexander II (1818-1881), and Maria Alexandrovna (1824-1880), signed and inscribed by Nicholas I of Russia in dark ink "le bon frère, ami et allié - Nicholas" (=`the good brother, friend and ally - Nicholas`), attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a picture, shows Nicholas I of Russia in a chest-up portrait (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds with a small edge separation (0,5 inch) to the right edge, a small tear, and browning - in fine condition.

"Monsieur mon frère, je me suis déja empressé de faire indirectement connaitre a Votre Majesté les sentiments que m`a inspirés la mission dont Elle avait bien voulu charger auprès de moi le Prince de Lichtenstein, à l`occasion du marriage de mon fils bien-aimé avec la Princesse Marie de Hesse-Darmstadt ..."
Translated:
"My brother, I have already hurried to indirectly acquaint your Majesty with the sentiments inspired by the mission which had kindly entrusted to me with the Prince of Lichtenstein, on the occasion of the marriage of my beloved son. with Princess Marie of Hesse-Darmstadt..."
