Signed guest book page (lightly lined) with signatures of Oxford University undergraduates, as well as the names of their respective colleges, 7 x 8,25 inch, stamp-dated: 20.10.1911, signed in blue ink "J. R. R. Tolkien - Exeter", attractively mounted (removable) with a portrait of a young Tolkien and framed behind glass for fine display (altogether 17,25 x 13,25 inch), with a central horizontal fold, and dampstained to the lower edge (not affecting the signature) - in fine condition. In October of the same year, Tolkien began studying at Exeter College, Oxford. He initially studied classics but changed his course in 1913 to English language and literature, graduating in 1915 with first-class honours.
