Signed guestbook page, 8 x 10,5 inch - affixed on slightly larger cardboard, 1962, guestbook page from the Restaurant `Chez Roger` in Antibes (southeastern France) - probably dedicated on the occasion of a friendly dinner between the 11 guests, signed by Pablo Picasso in blue ballpoint ink "Picasso" & signed and inscribed by Jean Cocteau in blue felt tip "de tout coeur, l`ami - Jean Cocteau - 1962" (adding a small drawing) - additionally signed (partly verso) by Douglas Couper (art historian, friend of Picasso), Carmen Tessier (journalist), Gustavo Gili (editor, friend of Picasso), Francine Weisweiller (friend of Cocteau), Edouard Dermit (beloved friend of Cocteau), David Douglas Duncan (photographer, friend of Picasso), Jacqueline Picasso (wife of Picasso) - adding `It is a pleasure to age in such good company here` (translated), attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Pablo Picasso next to JeanCocteau (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with very mild signs of wear - in nearly very fine condition. The friendly relationship between Picasso and Cocteau began in 1915. Cocteau had an artistic passion for Picasso and in 1923 wrote a book about him with the title `Picasso`. This period sees a development of the friendship and the collaboration between the two men, in the middle of an epoch of intellectual and artistic bubbling. The year 1926 however marks a muddle which will leave lasting traces. The 1950s were the occasion for a geographic and friendly rapprochement.
