Autograph letter signed, one page - with collector`s stamp `EL`, 4,5 x 3,5 inch, `Wednesday evening` (1872 - dated by an unknown person), in French, to his last close friend Edmond Laporte (1832-1906) - Flaubert requests the domestic servant of his correspondent and mentions his beloved friend Louis Bouilhet (passed away 1869), written and signed in black ink "G. Flaubert", attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Gustave Flaubert in a 2/3 length portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with intersecting letter folds and very mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition. "Je vous engage a amener votre domestique. Le mien n`est pas habile dans le soin des chevaux et j`ignore ous ce rapport les talents de mon jardinier. Je vous attends de bonne heure - afin que nous puissons causer un peu de notre cher petit qui n`est plus la. Tout a vous - Flaubert mercredi soir" Translated: "I urge you to bring your domestic servant. Mine is not good at caring for horses and I do not know about my gardener's talents.
