Typed letter signed, one page, 6,75 x 10 inch, `Marconi House, Strand` letterhead, London, 24.07.1931, in Italian general and politician (afterwards Mussolini`s Secretary of State) Carlo Porro declining an invitation to the twentieth meeting of the `Societa Italiana per il Progresso delle Scienze` (one of the oldest Italian scientific societies, founded in 1839) due to prior international commitments - nevertheless he promises to make sure that the Royal Academy of Italy will be present at the event, signed in black ink "Guglielmo Marconi", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Marconi in a head and shoulders portrait (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds and mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by an autographed note signed, two pages - both sides (on a visiting card), 3,25 x 2 inch, in Italian, written and signed by his second wife Maria Cristina Bezzi-Scali (1900–1994) in dark ink "M. Cristina Marconi", in very fine condition. In parts: "... inderrogabili impegni, gia da tempo assunti all`Estero, m`impediscono di procurami questo piacere ... mia cura di provedere a che la R. Accademia d`Italia venga rappresentata alla importante Riunione..."
