Two autograph letters signed: 1. Autograph letter signed, one page, 4 x 5,25 inch, in French, to balloonist, and politician Alexandre Bixio (1808-1865) - concerning a meeting to dine with his correspondent and Alexandre Dumas (père), written and signed by Alexandre Dumas fils in blue ink "A. Dumas f.", with mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition. "Mon cher Bixio. Nous irons dîner chez vous, le père [Alexandre Dumas père] et moi. Si je ne vous ai pas répondu plus tôt, c’est que nous avons encore failli ne pouvoir pas être des vôtres. On devait jouer sa pièce aujourd’hui. Heureusement elle est remise. Votre bien dévoué - A. Dumas fils." Translated: "My dear Bixio. We will go to dine with you, father [his father the great Alexandre Dumas père] and me. If I did not answer you earlier, it is because we were not sure we could come. His play had to be played today. Fortunately it will played later. Yours faithfully -A. Dumas Jr. " Accompanied by an autograph letter signed by Maurice Bixio (President of the Compagnie Generale des Voitures de Paris & son of Alexandre Bixio, 1836-1906), one page, 8 x 10,5 inch, Paris, 21.01.1887, thank-you letter to `Madame de Riverolles` - concerning the sending of the sum of 20 francs in payment for a race, written and signed in dark ink "M. Bixio", with intersecting letter folds and mild signs of wear - in fine condition. This funny letter of thanks for sending the sum of 20 francs in payment for a race is in reality addressed to Alexandre Dumas Jr. himself. Indeed, `Madame de Riverolles` is just one of the characters in his play Francillon, played for the first time on January 17, 1887, at the Comédie-Française ! 2. Autograph letter signed, 2 1/2 pages (on two conjoined sheets), 4 x 6 inch, January 1st (no year), in French, thanks you letter to actress Aimee Desclee (1836-1874) - concerning the sending of flowers, written and signed in dark ink "N. Dumas", with a central horizontal letter fold, and mild foxing - in fine to very fine condition. "Mademoiselle, Je charge Monsieur Dumas de vous dire combien j’ai été touchée de ces belles fleurs que vous m’avez envoyées et que j’aurai si souvent l’occasion de vous rendre. Je suis de celles à qui on offre des fleurs, vous êtes de celles à qui on en doit. Recevez, Mademoiselle, avec l’assurance de mes sentiments les plus distingués, tous mes souhaits de succès que vous réaliserez si facilement. N. Dumas." Translated: "Miss, I charge Mister Dumas to tell you how much I have been touched by these beautiful flowers that you have sent me and that I will have so often the opportunity to thank you in the same way. I am one of those who are offered flowers, you are of those to whom we must offer flowers. Receive, Mademoiselle, with the assurance of my most distinguished sentiments, all my wishes for success, which you will realize so easily. N. Dumas."
