Typed letter signed, one page, 8,25 x 11,75 inch, Führerhauptquartier, 6.03.1943, file note for Pg. Friedrichs - concerning the staffing of Pg. Neuburg as ` Stellv. Gauleiter`* in Oberschlesien, signed by Martin Bormann in red indelible pencil "Bormann", with an autograph note by an unknown official to the upper edge (in pencil), with puncher holes and mild signs of wear to the left corners - in fine condition. "Wie ich Ihnen bereits sagte, glaube ich nicht, dass Pg. N e u b u r g zu den ersten vierzig oder fünfzig politischen Köpfen der Nation zählt. Ich sehe mich daher nicht in der Lage, seiner Ernennung als Stellv. Gauleiter in Oberschlesien zuzustimmen." * A Gauleiter was the party leader of a regional branch of the Nazi Party or the head of a Gau or Reichsgau. The word can be singular or plural, depending on its context. Gauleiter was the second highest Nazi Party paramilitary rank, subordinate only to the higher rank Reichsleiter and to the position of Führer. During World War II, the rank of Gauleiter was obtained only by direct appointment from Adolf Hitler.
