Autograph letter signed, one page, 4 x 6 inch, Davos 13.1.1994 (postmark), to H. Verner Dobson, informing him that "My sister and I hope to come along in the morning after all and have a shot with the ski. .Don't wait for us", written and signed in dark ink "A. Conan Doyle", attractively mounted with original mailing envelope postmarked, an image of Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty struggling together at the Reichenbach Falls in the novel The Final Problem and printed caption (altogether 18,75 x 14,5 inch), with a horizontal mailing fold, scattered very small stains and mild signs of wear - in fine condition. Caption reading `At this time in his life, Conan Doyle needed time to 'cure' his wife, Louise of Tuberculosis - which meant spending considerable time in the clean air of Switzerland. The previous year on a visit to Switzerland, he came up with the idea to `kill off` Holmes, (in the Alps), in order to devote all his time to his wife, as he was fed up with the constant demands of his publisher. His involvement with two Swiss friends who introduced Skis to Switzerland and their joint trek through the Maienfelder Furka Pas, became major news at the time. Conan Doyle can be genuinely be credited with being the úther' of English Ski tourism in Europe`
