Autographed letter signed, one page, 5,25 x 4,75 inch, in French, to a woman, Dumas refers to one of his works and tells his correspondent to give him back the copy if the artist cannot play the role and writes furthermore about the creation of a more important role for the small `Colbrun`, written and signed in black ink, attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Alexandre Dumas (pere) in a half length portrait, with two horizontal letter folds and scattered mild creases at the left edge - in fine condition. "Chere Madame Si Porcher ne peut pas me faire le bon Hostein rendez le moi je vous prie: Je suis eternellement en travaillant - 12 heures par jour a attendre apres 10 (?) Le desir de faire un role plus important au petit Colbrun m`a fait momentanement vous reprendre les tableaux de la poste St Martin - mais il y en a 5 de faits - Tout a vous - Ale. Dumas" In parts (translated): "...if so, send it back to me, I am eternally working 12 hours a day, please wait till 10h. I have just created a more important role for the small Colbrun...and have had to recuperate momentarily the paintings from the St. Martin post office, but there are 5 done..."
